How to not get fired...

Written by Die Tour Phantome at 13:29 6/7-2014

Well, finish on the podium in a tour! And that's exactly what Tomas Belo did, for the second year in a row. He fell a grand total of 12 seconds short of repeating his victory in Volta ao Porto. But his second place (where management would have been happy with any place in the top 9) means he gives Die Tour Phantome the right to start again in this great race next season. If... Belo is still on the team.

"Yes, we did intend to sell him later this season", manager Alexx told the press after the Volta. "Our team is looking to get younger and we could really need the money we could make by parting ways with Tomas." What now? "We'll look into that the coming days. But we very much like riding Volta ao Porto, so it would take an offer we can't refuse to sell Tomas now."

The manager of Die Tour Phantome however would not commit to letting his Portuguese star completely focus on his homeland tour once again. "Even if he stays, who says he'll be our Porto-captain next year? He'll be 32 by then. We might give one of our younger guys a shot. Ed Pina was 4th in the YC this season as a team mate. And what about a TT-er, like Freddy Beaulieu?"

One thing is for sure: this unexpected succes in Portugal makes for some nice intrigue. To be continued...

Oops too long.... Performance related time gaps would fix that.

Rotational Symmetry at 12:33 7/7-2014
I think performance related rather than position related time gaps would be a big step forward. At the moment time loss by TT centered climbers like Belo on TTs is determined by how many TTers are in the tour. The same obviously applies in the climbing stages but there is a limit if 12 or so climbing captains with a good chance whereas the number of TTers on a TT stage is much more variable. Perfo
